Rusch-Fischer Picot Gauges

My doilies Penrosette and Snowflake on the Tattings page would not be possible without accurate picot gauges. I handcraft these from laminated mylar. They are very thin (15/1000") and are step-graduated from 2 through 60 in 32/1000" steps. The set of three works well with #100 Cordonnet through #5 Pearl Cotton. Click HERE for a close-up of a picot being made with #80 Tatting Cotton. You can make a set by using an Exacto-type hobby knife, a good magnifier, thin semi-rigid plastic and marking the steps at approximately 1/32" intervals. You can also click HERE and print the image. It should be 1-15/16" at the widest area (60). If not, you may have to diddle with the image to get it there. If you print the image on stiff paper, you can just cut it out and use it. If the size is off, try scaling it on a photocopier until it is right and then you can print it on heavy transparency film. Yes, it says ©, nobody has called me on it . . . you CAN'T copyright a design so go ahead and use it!
