German silver is an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel. Also known as nickel silver, it is non-magnetic and nearly impervious to tarnishing. It has a W-post. This shuttle was from the 1940's estate of a Washington-state tatting teacher who would give them to her students. The close up at the right shows the "GERSILVER" mark. Purchased from a fellow member of The Lace Museum 1999.
